WorkLink is Seeking Members for it's Board of Directors
Are you interested in what goes on in your community? Do you have a few hours a month to commit to volunteering for an organization who has been delivering employment services to the West Shore for nearly 30 years? WorkLink is interested in talking to you. Board members meet once a month, to oversee the organization's direction and management. Each Board member commits to coming to a monthly meeting and sitting on one committee. Usually this entails about 3 or 4 hours a month in the evening. Please Contact Jennifer De Luca, the Executive Director, if you would are interested in giving back to your community in this way.
Youth Employment Drop-in Centre
Check out Sooke's newest employment resource for youth. Open between 4 p.m and 6 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, youth 15-30 can get help with their job search from WorkLink's helpful and knowledgeable staff. You'll find computers loaded with job search favourites, photocopying and faxing privileges, and information that will help you get the job you want. Drop in at at unit D-6625 Sooke Road, Sooke

Are you looking for work that interests you? Not sure what kind of job you want or how to get it? Would you like to receive $240 a week living allowance to creatively learn job search skills and take part in a work experience placement that you choose? If you would, then WorkLink’s PATHWAY Project may be right for you.
Are you:
- between 15 and 30?
- out of work?
- out of school?
- not receiving Employment Insurance now or in the last three years?
- facing a barrier or barriers to employment?
- not sure how to take the next step towards finding work you might like???
Then you may be eligible to attend PATHWAY, a 16-week job search program. The first eight weeks are in class learning about job search, resume preparation, interview tips and personal management (budgeting, time management, team building). You will also get training and certification in First Aid, FoodSafe and SuperHost. The in-class portion is followed by an 8-week work experience placement.
